Frequently asked questions about our classes
Back to Top
How many teachers and students are in each class?
There are approximately 25-30 children maximum in each class with five or six teachers.
The student/ teacher ratio is 5:1 or better.

When are classes, how much, and how long does each class and session last?
The classes are 90 minutes each and children come one time per week. They cost approximately $20 each,
but are paid for by the session.
The fall session is September through mid-December, the winter session is January through March
(usually finishing up at Easter), and the spring session is April and May.

What does my child do in class?
The first hour the children can play wherever they would like. Lining up and going to different stations
is not age-appropriate and not FUN for this age group. The teachers help where needed and assist on the equipment.
Safety is our first concern. Willow Rockecharlie is the lead teacher in each class. She may lead a group activity
such as jump rope, parachute or an obstacle course during that first hour. We encourage the children to use all the
available equipment. The last 20-25 minutes are spent doing musical activities. We sit and sing, use rhythm sticks,
do movement activities to music, and pretend we are motorcycles!

What equipment do you use?
We use "balance beams" (8" wide planks), an A-frame climbing bar, parallel bars, horizontal bars, Frisbee swings,
rope ladders, hula hoops, an airbag (mini "moonwalk"), balls, a mini-rock wall, beanbags, trapeze swings, tunnels,
mats of all shapes and sizes, and more.

What do the children wear?
Children wear shorts, sweatpants or leggings, and a T-shirt, or anything comfortable. We go barefooted,
so please no footed tights for girls. Leotards are fine for girls, but most girls don't wear them. Please do
NOT send your daughters in dresses. They are dangerous when climbing and walking on the balance beams.
(Please label names in shoes, coats, EVERYTHING! The kids do not always recognize their shoes since many look alike!)

Does my child need to be potty trained?
Your child does NOT need to be potty trained, but please send an extra diaper and change of clothes, just in case.
Children who are currently potty training or newly trained need a change of clothes also. We ask many times during
class if anyone needs to go to the bathroom, but accidents happen occasionally. Remember, put names on EVERYTHING!

Do the parents stay during the class?
Parents do not stay during the class. There are windows to peek through if you'd like to watch discreetly,
but we find the children interact better with the teachers when the parents are not seen. Sometimes a child
will cry when dropped off, but rarely do they cry more than a few minutes (Just long enough to make a parent feel guilty!).
A quick goodbye and exit works best. We will call you if your child remains unhappy.

Where do I park?
Please see parking and carpool information sheet in registration packet. Parking is limited so please plan on a
quick drop-off and pick-up. A teacher will be outside each week (beginning the SECOND week of each session) to
walk in your child. Drop off begins 5 minutes prior to class until 10 minutes after class begins.
If you arrive early, please wait to come in until carpool begins.
